Administrative Responsibilities

For the efficient administration of the parish, there are many administrative responsibilities that are in need of volunteer help. These tasks fall under the categories of Councils and Committees, which advise on both the spiritual and temporal management of the parish. The Buildings and Grounds Committee assists in the planning and upkeep of buildings and grounds. Administrative Consultation includes technical knowledge, and Assisting Office Help including data entry, hosting, secretarial and receptionists, mailing teams, etc.

Computer Advisors

for Equipment We are using aging computers and need advice on how to upgrade and improve our system without great additional costs.

for Internet We are in need of assistance on the internet and of learning the resources on the internet for our use. If you could instruct us and advise us on how to further advance in this area, we could use your help.

for Graphic Design We need the help of a graphic designer to oversee and perfect our newsletters and published materials including our Web Page graphics.

for Programming We occasionally need help to create a program to do a task for which we cannot find a software product. We need someone who can create a user friendly program.

for Software Instruction Our staff often does not have time to learn the refinements of software programs we use in the office work. If you are familiar with any of the following programs and would be willing to be a resource and an occasional instructor, please contact Programs such as: Windows 95 (97), PageMaker, Photo Shop, Clarisworks, and FilemakerPro.

for Web Page Design You are currently viewing our Parish Web Site. We are interested in having web page designers who will improve and/or help maintain our pages. If you have those skills, we could use your help. Even if you're not a web designer, but have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word or have graphic design capabilities, we could use your help. Office Assistance

Give a helping hand by joining one of the office team needs listed below:

Mail Team Putting together the communications of the parish needed throughout the year is a very large task. Preparing the items for mailing is an even larger task. The mail team is asked to come in 5 or 6 times a year to help label and stuff envelopes for bulk mailing. For information, please contact Jean Ure at 847-854-4824.

Weekend Office Individuals answer phones, attend to new parishioners, make copies, etc. They are also available to assist in the case of an emergency, calling 911, etc. We would like to have coverage for the Saturday 4:30 p.m. Mass and Sunday 7:00 a.m., 9:00 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. Masses. This can be a different person for Saturdays and/or Sundays.

Money Counters This ministry counts, tabulates, and deposits the money received at the weekend masses.

Data Entry To help keep the parish budget low, we have fewer secretaries and are always in need of people who can do data entry on a computer either in the parish office or at home. It can be entered on either an IBM or Mac.

Secretaries for taking Meeting Minutes
We need secretaries who would attend meetings, take, and type notes/minutes.

Trade Skills

Within the normal course of a year, we are always in need of small jobs to be done in some area where a parishioner, who has either a professional or learned skill, would be helpful to the parish and save some costs to the budget. Please sign up if you are skilled in any of the following areas and would be willing to be called upon to do a small job: Bricklayer, Carpenter, Carpet Installer, Cement Worker, Electrician, Glazier, Lawyer, Nurse, Painter, Plasterer, Plumber, Photographer, Printer, Roofer, Sheet Metal Worker, Small Engine Repair, Small Appliance Repair, Telephone Installation, Tuck pointer, Wallpaperer, and Woodworker.

Grounds Maintenance

Adopt-A-Flower This volunteer opportunity allows us to keep our parish grounds beautiful. Volunteers sign up for a flower bed and tend it throughout the year. Grass Cutting We need help with the maintenance of the lawn (cutting the grass), particularly in the Spring and Fall when regular maintenance staff persons have regular duties as well as the additional work that is seasonal. The maintenance of our parish has increased over the years and your help is appreciated.

Snow Removal We occasionally need help with the removal of snow from the parking lot and the sidewalks.
