ADVISORY COUNCILS AND COMMITTEES

The administration of the parish is placed in the hands of the Pastor by the Bishop, but
a good pastor always seeks wise council. The following councils and committees are the
chief advisors to the Pastor as well as his staff.
Parish Pastoral Council
This is the central consultative body in the parish assisting the pastor in the Spiritual
direction of the parish. The council reviews programs, oversees parish goals, and assists
in setting parish priorities through the support of the Parish Commissions. It is made
up of ten members of the parish appointed by the pastor.
Parish Finance Council
This major council is established by universal church law to give guidance and counsel to
the pastor and Pastoral Council concerning the material resources of the parish. The
Council oversees the parish finances, prepares the budget, and recommends financial policies.
It is made up of 6 to 8 parishioners appointed by the pastor.
Stewardship Committee
The Stewardship Committee fosters and develops an open welcoming Christian community
and encourages the desire to share God's gifts of Time, Talent, and Treasure. In
November they conduct the Stewardship Process inviting people to pledge their gifts
of stewardship. In addition the committee also conducts the Diocesan Stewardship appeal.
They welcome new and creative people to the committee.
