The Chulucanas Diocese of Peru is a desperately poor area in South America.  For many years, the Augustinian Missionaries have served the people of this diocese, and for a number of years missionaries from the Sisters of Mercy have also served in Chulucanas.
	The Rockford Diocese has an established relationship with this Peruvian diocese.  A portion of our mission collection each year goes to them, many of the Catholic schools in our diocese participate in the Heart-to-Heart program through which our school children send drawings and money for school supplies to the Chulucanas children, and one of our priests now serves as a pastor in a parish in Chulucanas.
Many of you who attend the 9:00 mass will remember Bishop Dan Turley from Chulucanas who spoke about his people at our mass last October.
Ed and Pat Geiss are long-time St. Margaret Mary parishioners.  Before they were married, both served as missionaries in the Chulucanas Diocese.  Ed and Pat left January 9th to spend 3 months working with the Augustinian missionaries in Peru.
	This is the third year in a row they have devoted their time to this work.  Ed and Pat will try to send weekly emails describing their experiences, which you will find on this website, along with pictures of the people they will encounter.  Please pray that the Lord will keep them safe and that the Spirit will bless their mission.
