PREPARING FOR THE SACRAMENTS

BAPTIZING AN INFANT
1. Pick up an information brochure on Baptismal Information and Policies. This can be picked in the Parish Office or from the Pamphlet Rack in Bethany Lobby or it can be down loaded by clicking here.

2. Make an appointment for the Baptismal Interview with one of the priests at the Parish Office. One of the priests will call you to set an appointment.

3. Attend the required instructive Baptismal Preparation Session on the first Thursday of each month from 7:30 to 9:00 PM in Bethany Lobby.

4. Scheduling the actual day of Baptism may be done with the priest at the interview or after your attendance at the Baptismal Preparation Session with one of the secretaries in the Parish Office. Baptisms are most weekends of the year at one of the Sunday Masses, but we limit baptisms to four baptisms at any mass. BAPTIZING ADULTS AND OLDER CHILDREN (ages seven years and older). The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process in which the faith community of Saint Margaret Mary invites people to join the Church. RECEIVING FIRST RECONCILIATION
Children generally receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time in the Second Grade before their reception of First Eucharist (Communion). For information about the requirements for this sacrament, Contact: Sharon Prykop, Director of Religious Education at (847) 658-9339. Those children who are older and in a grade higher than Grade 2, should contact Kathie Fuller at the Parish Office at (847) 658-7625 for more information and clarification about the special process called Christian Beginnings.


RECEIVING FIRST EUCHARIST
Children generally receive the Sacrament of Eucharist for the first time in the Second Grade. RECEIVING CONFIRMATION AS A STUDENT
The Sacrament of Confirmation is generally celebrated in the Freshman year of High School at Saint Margaret Mary. Participation in the six Preparation Sessions is required. RECEIVING CONFIRMATION AS A ADULT
Senior Year High School Students and older who have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation are asked to attend six sessions of the Adult Confirmation Class which are scheduled after Christmas. Confirmation is celebrated when the Bishop comes to our parish for the celebration of the sacrament. Contact: Kathie Fuller, Pastoral Associate at (847) 658-7625. CELEBRATING YOUR MARRIAGE
Couples planning marriage must contact the Parish Office to pick up the guidelines. An Assessment Process is used to determine the amount of preparation time. An Engaged Encounter Weekend for preparation is a requirement as part of the preparation process. No wedding dates will be established until the first or second meeting with the priest. Couples must be 19 years of age and begin the process at least six months to a year prior to the date they wish. Couples must complete an information sheet in the Parish Office to begin the process and pick up an information brochure called Guide to Your Wedding. This can be picked in the Parish Office or from the Pamphlet Rack in Bethany Lobby or it can be down loaded by clicking here.


CELEBRATING THE SACRAMENT OF THE ANOINTING OF THE SICK
The Sacrament of Anointing is for those with a serious illness. It should be received at the beginning of the illness; please do not wait until near death. The sacrament cannot be given to those who have died. Contact: Any of the priests at the Parish Office (847) 658-7625. There is also a Communal Anointing celebrated during the Easter Season at the Sunday Masses.
