About Camp WOW
Camp WOW began in 1997 with a one week long summer camp. It quickly grew into the much loved Camp WOW we know today, that because of the number of campers has been broken into 4 different camps.
Saint Margaret Mary sponsors one of the Camp WOWs each year along with other area parishes. The 2010 Camp WOW for SMM will be June 20th to the 23rd. Each year has it usual special events, like the Wacky Olympics, the No-Talent Show, and the theme days.
The counselors at camp are High School students from the parishes attending. They go through training for several months before camp to prepare for the youth that are coming. They perform skits, give talks and witnesses, and lead small groups.
Camp WOW is hosted at Dickson Valley Camp & Retreat Center in Newark, IL. They have a lake with a water slide and ski carousel. Each group will have a chance to go canoeing on the river if the weather permits. Each year there is a crafty activity and each youth will have a chance to experience a variety of activities allowed at camp.
