Camp WOW 16 is Coming Soon!
It's coming! Camp WOW 16 is coming June 18-June 2, 2012!
- The Youth Ministers of St. Patrick (St. Charles), St. Margaret Mary (Algonquin), St. Irene's (Warrenville), St. Gall (Elburn) are co-sponsoring, planning and holding the camp. Dickson Valley Camp and Retreat Center provides the meals, lodging, recreational facilities and equipment. The Youth Ministers are in charge of the program and content of the camp.
- If you have not already paid the remainder of your Camp Fee, please do so as soon as possible. If you have any special needs regarding payment, then please contact your Youth Minister. The total cost of camp is $175 per camper. You should have already paid a $25 registration fee to secure your spot at camp. The remaining $150 is now due
- In addition to the multitude of youth ministers and adults involved with camp, there will be a squad of High School students serving as counselors. We are excited to have many returning counselors and former campers returning to take on the role of counselor at the camp.
- Adults are needed to help-out in a variety of roles during this camp. If you already volunteered on the registration form, thank you! If you haven't volunteered, then please consider doing so. Evenings are always in need of help. This is from 8 PM to 8 AM. DUE TO THE "HOME SPUN" NATURE OF THE CAMP, AND THE MODERATELY LOW FEE, WE ARE VERY DEPENDANT ON HELP FROM PARENTS AND INTERESTED ADULTS! It is our expectation that one parent of a camper help out with at least one volunteer role in the camp (unless unable to do so.)
- Recreational activities will include the following and more: Swimming, Canoeing on the Fox River, Hayride, Bonfire, Archery, Sand Volleyball, Softball, Touch Football, Ultimate Frisbee, Hiking, Indoor Gym, Capture the Flag, "The Chase," Wacky Olympics and a Game Night, Ice Cream Sundaes, a Pizza Social, and more!
- The camp will have a spiritual focus as well as recreational. We are working with a theme called "Rock On," Jesus is our rock and the foundation of a fulfilled life. We can be a "rock" of support for others as well. In addition to various opportunities, there will be prayer times - personal and small group, age-appropriate Bible study, and singing. We will have the opportunity for daily mass and the sacrament of Reconciliation.
- Please note: There will be a nurse with us for the majority of the camp. Please pay careful attention to the guidelines below regarding the proper handling of medications at camp. **All medications, including over-the-counter, need to be given to the volunteer camp nurse at Check-in time for safekeeping. Please send anything your child will need including aspirin, Tylenol, Benedryl, etc. The volunteer camp nurse will be responsible for distributing medications during camp. Please send written instructions with all medications including over-the-counter medications as well
